Aarhus Symposium 2014 took a forward-looking perspective on global challenges, as a wide range of leaders of today shared their insights and knowledge regarding leadership and strategy. The focus was on how to efficiently manage the risks and opportunities that arise from navigating on the global scene and how leadership and strategy can be effective drivers in the effort of overcoming global challenges.
Global and local issues are constantly challenging the leaders of today. Difficult times call for talented and determined leaders who know which decisions to make – and when. Therefore, leadership skills and an effective well-implemented strategy are some of the most important keys to success and progress. THE SUPERIOR NORDIC STRATEGY
In 2014, the theme was “The Superior Nordic Strategy”. The theme aimed to discuss the differences and similarities between Denmark and Sweden.
The debate closed with a final poll on what the students saw as the most important challenges that Denmark needs to address. The results showed clearly that education, productivity, and reforms of the public sector were believed to be the three most important components of the economic strategy that would put Denmark in the lead.

In 2014, the three challenge topics were put forward by General Peter Bartram, Danish Chief of Defence; Thomas F. Borgen, Group CEO Danske Bank; and Peder Tuborgh, CEO Arla Foods.
Each of these leaders of today encouraged the students, and leaders of tomorrow, to write a challenge essay addressing a specific topic within the theme “Leadership and Strategy”.
