29 Nov Aarhus Symposium Focus 2016 – Recap Video

On October 31, we introduced the very first Aarhus Symposium Focus.

We want to thank all 450 engaging students who participated, for taking an active part by using the Q&A tool during the sessions and by mingling in the breaks.

Furthermore, we want to thank our Premium Partner, DONG Energy, for their contribution to Aarhus Symposium Focus 2016.

Watch or re-experience some of the best moments from the day in the video here.

We are excited to announce the three top speakers participating in Aarhus Symposium Focus 2016.

Allan Lyngsø Madsen, Chief Economist at the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions, LO, has spent his career providing economic counselling to policy-makers. Before being appointed Chief Economist at LO, Allan Lyngsø Madsen held various positions at the Danish Metalworkers’ Union, Dansk Metal.

Troels Bjerg, Regional CEO Northern Europe at ISS A/S, is part of global management at ISS, which is one of the world’s largest facility service companies. Among other positions, Troels Bjerg is a member of the Board of Directors at Ejner Hessel Holding A/S as well as a member of the Central Board at the Confederation of Danish Industry, DI.

Torben Tranæs, Executive Director of Research at the Danish National Centre for Social Research, SFI, is a very well-respected voice in economic debates in Denmark and internationally as a result of his excellent research and numerous publications. Torben Tranæs’ areas of research include labour market relations, migration, and integration as well as welfare and income distribution in Denmark.

With backgrounds in organisations representing workers, employers, and the public sector respectively, the three speakers will bring different views to the table when discussing this year’s theme: “Demographic changes – How will we work, age, and live?”

22 Jun Theme Announcement

The theme of Aarhus Symposium Focus 2016 is “Demographic changes – How will we work, age, and live?”

Looking five years ahead, the generation entering the Danish labour force is smaller than the retiring generation. Already by 2017, Danish employment will be at its structural level creating problematic conditions for businesses. This may lead to the following questions: Which actions do business leaders need to take now to prepare for this shift in labour availability? How do legislators create the best conditions for future growth while addressing these demographic challenges?

On October 31, 2016, three experts will share their individual perspectives on how we will work, age, and live through an economic discussion. The speakers will be announced during this fall.

Take a moment to reflect on the different dimensions of this year’s focus as illustrated in the chart above.

17 Jun Aarhus Symposium Focus

During the past four years, several experts participating in Battle of the Economists have shared their views on economic challenges faced in Denmark. In the years to come, Aarhus Symposium Focus will continue to zoom in on the national scope and provide participants with current and inspirational insights in relation to the overall theme of Aarhus Symposium.

This year, we have invited three experts, who are indeed ready to kick-start the week of Aarhus Symposium with you. Next week, we will reveal the theme of Aarhus Symposium Focus, so stay tuned.

You secure your seat through Aarhus Symposium Challenge. Write an essay and take part in Aarhus Symposium Focus 2016 on October 31.

15 Jun ‘Battle of the Economists’ changes name to ‘Aarhus Symposium Focus’

It is with great excitement we announce that Battle of the Economists from this day on will be named “AARHUS SYMPOSIUM FOCUS”.

Since 2012, Battle of the Economists has developed and grown even further than we had hoped for. Therefore, time has now come to redefine the scope of the concept by broadening the possibilities for the specific focus of the event. This makes it possible to choose the most interesting and relevant subject to discuss in relation to the overall theme of Aarhus Symposium each year.

We look forward to seeing you at the very first Aarhus Symposium Focus on October 31, 2016!
