BUILDING RESILIENCE IN AN INTERDEPENDENT WORLD

With the theme "Building Resilience in an Interdependent World," Aarhus Symposium 2024 brought together forward-thinking leaders to dissect the emerging strategies essential for thriving amid global uncertainties. The event invited participants to explore the fine balance between leveraging proven traditions and embracing transformative innovations. Leaders delved into how resilient supply chains, sustainable practices, and robust security measures can empower organisations to navigate turbulent times.

A deep dive into these pivotal strategies revealed that understanding the intricate dynamics of modern business operations is key to unlocking new growth opportunities. By unravelling the complex threads of interdependence, attendees gained insights into fostering agility while preserving valuable legacy practices. Such insights not only improve day-to-day performance but also prepare organisations to meet future challenges head on.

Ultimately, Aarhus Symposium 2024 underscored the value of harnessing diversity, collaboration, and innovative thinking to build a resilient business foundation. Today's leaders found that by embracing these principles, they can tap into a broader talent pool and chart a course toward long-term success in an ever-connected, globalised world.

AARHUS SYMPOSIUM CHALLENGE 2024

THREE CRUCIAL CHALLENGES

The Aarhus Symposium Challenge 2024 marked the starting point for students eager to engage with this year’s theme, “Building Resilience in an Interdependent World.” By submitting their thoughts on one of three challenges, students had the opportunity to secure a seat for Aarhus Symposium Friday and Aarhus Symposium Focus 2024. The twelve most inspiring submissions were invited to the exclusive Leaders’ Forum — an intimate session with the speaker behind their chosen challenge.

This year, students could choose from three distinct challenge topics — each tied to a critical issue in today’s global landscape and introduced by a leading business figure:

The speakers presenting challenges for Aarhus Symposium 2024 were:

Kasim Kutay, CEO of Novo Holdings, with the challenge: How can companies contribute to solving global health challenges while ensuring long-term profitability?
Jakob Scharf, Executive Director & Co-founder of CERTA Intelligence & Security, with the challenge: How do we foster resilience and trust in an increasingly volatile and complex global environment?
Eva Berneke, CEO of Eutelsat Group, with the challenge: How can innovation in technology and connectivity help bridge global divides?

12 MOST INSPIRING ESSAYS

On the day of Aarhus Symposium 2024, the twelve students behind the most exceptional and thought-provoking essays were invited to participate in the exclusive Leaders’ Forum. In this intimate one-hour session, they had the unique opportunity to engage directly with one of the three speakers behind the Aarhus Symposium Challenge, diving deeper into the topics they had explored.

The winner of the Aarhus Symposium Award 2024 was Emma Lyager Kaspersen, whose essay examined how the workplace can evolve by fostering a deeper sense of purpose for employees — and how such a shift can empower businesses to unlock new avenues for growth and innovation.

Among the many compelling insights in her essay, one of the most striking arguments was the link between perceived meaningfulness at work and long-term profitability, highlighting how human-centered leadership can become a true competitive advantage.
